Airborne, Schmerborne

Many of you have no doubt heard of Airborne, but do you think it actually works? According to the pharmacist I talked to today, the answer is no. This is how our conversation went:

Me: So, does this Airborne stuff actually work?
Him: Quite honestly, no.
Me: The fact that it was created by a school teacher doesn’t exactly make me want to buy it.
Him: She knows how to make money, but she doesn’t know anything about medicine. Your best bet is to wash your hands often.

I don’t know about you, but I can certainly think of better ways to spend $6.99.

Well, I am going to keep believing in it’s medicinal powers… if I think I won’t get sick then I have better chances of actually not getting sick ;)

Who wouldn’t want to drink yucky, orange, fizzy water?

I’m with Em. As usual. And, as I learned in my Intercucltural Comm class yesterday, Airborne is a form of naturalistic medicine, which is becoming more widely accepted by the medical community. Plus the empty Airborne tubes make really good storage containers for laundry money (aka quarters). How many college students can argue with that?

  3. Alix says:

Oh, and PS: it’s cheaper than $6.99 at Trader Joe’s.

  4. Nys says:

What?! You want beer coasters…I’ll work on that for Christmas for you – deal? But ACT like you didn’t know or it will just make me so upset when I give it to you..!
I know people who SWARE by Airbourne…

  5. Emily says:

Actually I took an airborne shortly after reading this post… and if it doesn’t work and I get sick I am blaming you for shattering my belief in the stuff

P.S. I like it that alix is usually on my side

  6. Alix says:

I like being on Emily’s side.

Airborne rocks my socks! Hey – did you know that prescription medicines and hospitals are the #1 cause of death in America. I’ll take my chances with airborne. Heck, homeopathic medicine in general just kicks arse (not that Airborne is anything of the sort) – except for acupuncture, I can definitely skip the acupuncture.

  8. Emily says:

Geez, thanks so much for that morbid little fact. Now I’m going to be afraid to go to hospitals

  9. Nys says:

Oh Garret that’s all Em (and I sometimes) need…hummm…

I have 2 small children that always have a runny nose. If my throat starts to feel itchy, I take an Airborne………..It works for me! I don’t know if its just mentally or if it is really physically working…….but it keeps me from catching their colds.
