Stand behind our troops (or not)

Tuesday, March 4th, 2008

I found some humor in this bumper sticker I saw the other day (on a Prius, of course, but you probably would have been able to deduct that on your own):

“If you can’t stand behind our troops, stand in front of them.”

No Human Being Is Illegal

Saturday, April 14th, 2007

Continuing in the vein of my last post, today I bring you another fantastic bumper sticker that doesn’t make any sense whatsoever. (And if you think I have a penchant for bumper stickers, you’d be right. After all, I spend about 90 minutes in my car every day, so I’m bound to come across interesting material eventually.) As the title suggests, a bumper sticker currently exists which reads as follows: “No Human Being Is Illegal”. In fact, you can buy some for your friends and family right here for only $10 a pop (be sure not to miss other interesting/inane links on the AFSC site as well).

Honestly, I would agree with the bumper sticker if it weren’t for the fact that people who enter this country illegally are guilty of committing a federal crime. Maybe I’m just being nitpicky, or maybe it’s clearly spelled out in Section 1325 of Title 8 of the U.S. Code. Either way, it’s only been a law since 1929, so I would expect some people to protest it while its still fresh on the books.

Your thoughts? Comments are open, so light ‘em up!

Is It 2008 Yet?

Thursday, April 12th, 2007

I saw a car today that had a bumper sticker bearing the text of the title of this post. The irony, of course, is that if liberals can’t even figure out the current date, I doubt they should be allowed to vote in the next election.
